Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: May 6, 2010 Fatal Crash on I-310 Claims One Life Troop B – Louisiana State Police, Troop B is investigating a fatal crash in St. Charles Parish that occurred shortly after 4:15 AM on I-310 southbound at mile post 7.3. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Mack garbage truck, driven by Lawrence Robertson (B/M, age 43) of Kenner, was traveling in the right lane on I-310 south. A 2008 Mazda Tribute was also traveling in the right lane and for unknown reasons, struck the rear of the Mack truck. The Mazda then veered to the left and struck the guardrail on I-310 south and became engulfed in flames. The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The driver’s name is being withheld pending identification and notification to next of kin. There were no passengers in the Mazda at the time of the crash. Speed is suspected to have been a factor in the crash. Toxicology results are pending the autopsy.
