Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: July 21, 2010 Investigation of a Vehicle Title Company Leads to Three Arrests Troop B – In January 2010, Louisiana State Troopers, assigned to the Bureau of Investigations Insurance Fraud / Auto Theft Unit, were contacted by the Office of Motor Vehicles regarding vehicle title transactions being completed by Hebert Title, located at 300 Huey P. Long Ave., Gretna, LA. During the investigation, Troopers identified three employees suspected of forging names on “Duplicate Title” applications and other affidavits that are required in order to obtain a vehicle title. Investigation also showed that the suspects were lowering the sales price of vehicles and pocketing the monetary difference in sales tax proceeds prior to forwarding the paperwork to the Office of Motor Vehicles. The arrested subjects are listed below: Hazel Pettis (W/F, age 61) of Gretna, LA, charged with three counts of Forgery and three counts of Filing False Public Documents Doris Vegas (W/F, age 57) of Gretna, LA, charged with Theft in the amount of $6,280.63, thirteen counts of Forgery and thirteen counts of Filing False Public Documents Pauline Lirette (W/F, age 59) of Marrero, LA, charged with three counts of Forgery and three counts of Filing False Public Documents On July 20, 2010, all three suspects were arrested and booked at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.
