TROOP A NEWS RELEASE

September 17, 2014
Mississippi Man Killed in East Feliciana Parish Head On Crash

Clinton Shortly after 6:00 am on September 17, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on LA Hwy 67 north of LA Hwy 959 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash took the life of 23 year old Cody M. Temple of McComb, MS.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Temple was driving a 2001 Kia Sephia southbound on LA Hwy 67. At the same time 39 year old Richard Wright of Wilson, LA was driving a 2007 Mack garbage truck northbound on LA Hwy 67. For unknown reasons Temple’s Kia crossed the center line into the northbound lane of travel and struck the Mack truck head on.

Temple was unrestrained at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries as a result. Impairment is unknown at this time, and a toxicology sample was taken from him and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Impairment on the part of Wright is not suspected. He was properly restrained and was transported to Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary with only minor injuries.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seat belt use. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up.
