Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: June 24, 2010 New Orleans Resident Killed in Fatality Crash in St. Charles Parish Troop B – Shortly before 4:00 PM yesterday, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on US 61 (Airline Highway) north at Ormond Boulevard. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Ford Ranger, driven by Warren Johnson (age 73) of New Orleans, was traveling on US 61 north in the left lane and for unknown reasons, crossed the median and entered the left, southbound lane of US 61. The Ford Ranger then collided head-on with a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that was traveling in the left lane of US 61 south. Christopher Wahab, (age 17) of Destrehan, was identified as the driver of the Monte Carlo. Wahab and the passenger, Emad Wahab, were transported to River Parishes Hospital with moderate injuries. Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene. Speed and alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash. However, the toxicology results of both drivers are pending.
