Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: August 24, 2010 Fatal Crash in Plaquemines Parish Claims One Life Troop B – On Monday, August 23, 2010, at approximately 5:50 PM, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on LA 39 north at mile post 30.6 in Plaquemines Parish. The crash location is three miles north of LA 3137. Investigation revealed a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Denise Ganier (B/F, age 46) of Davant, LA, was traveling north on LA 39 at a high rate of speed in a rainstorm. The Chevrolet slid across the center line and was struck by a 2000 Ford F-350 that was traveling south on LA 39. The Ford was driven by Alfred Ricourd (W/M, age 46) of Braithwaite, LA and Ricourd was transported to Ochsner Hospital Westbank Campus with moderate injuries. Ganier was pronounced dead on the scene. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, toxicology results are pending.
