Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: October 21, 2010 **Update** On October 19, 2010, shortly after 2:00PM, Morrison succumbed to his injuries he sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead at the Interim LSU Public Hospital. Double Fatality Crash in St. Charles Parish Troop B – This morning, shortly before 11:00 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop B was notified of a fatal crash that occurred on LA 3127 north at mile post 8.2, which is 1.8 miles north of LA 3142. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 1999 Peterbilt dump truck, driven by Michael Morrison (B/M, age 54) of St. Albans, New York, was traveling south LA 3127 when its left front tire failed. The Peterbilt veered into the northbound lane and impacted a 2008 Toyota Highlander, driven by Edgar Walden (W/M, age 67) of Leawood, Kansas. Walden and his front seat passenger, Joann Walden (W/F, age 58) of Leawood, Kansas, were pronounced dead on the scene. Morrison was transported to the Interim LSU Public Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center in critical condition. Seat belts were used by all occupants. Speed and alcohol are not considered factors of the crash, however toxicology results are pending.
