Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: December 11, 2009 Fatal Crash on Belle Chase Highway Troop B – On December 11, 2009, at approximately 10:05 AM, Louisiana State Police responded to a fatal crash on Belle Chase Highway (LA 23) south at Avenue G. The investigation determined that that a 2005 International, driven by Cameron Johnson (age 27 of Donaldsonville), was stopped in the left turn lane at the intersection, waiting to make the left turn. A 2006 Kia Optima, driven by Ronnie R. Longino (age 46 of Belle Chase), struck the rear of the International. Longino was pronounced deceased on the scene. Troopers suspect Longino was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash; toxicology results are pending. Trooper T. Duncan is investigating the crash. Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle crashes in Louisiana. Please drive sober!
