Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: November 20, 2009 Teens Participate in Mock Crash during the Holiday Season Troop B- On Monday, November 23, 2009, students from St. Mary’s Dominican High School will participate in a Mock Crash involving drinking and driving. The Mock Crash will take place at 10:15 AM at the high school, located at 7701 Walmsley Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70125. Students involved in the Mock Crash will act out a crash scene scenario in front of their peers, allowing the students to see first- hand how drinking and driving effects everyone involved. Parents of the students will also be playing parts in this scenario. The Mock Crash will emphasize the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving, the usage of seat belts and the emotional suffering families endure when a fatal crash occurs in reality. Numerous state and local agencies will be participating and providing their expertise to ensure the safety of everyone involved. The Interim LSU Public Hospital, Louisiana State Police, New Orleans EMS and the New Orleans Coroner’s Office will also participate in the scenario. Personnel from each agency will be available to answer all of the student’s questions at the conclusion of the event. The Mock Crash allows all participating agencies to educate our teens about the dangers they face on the highways. This education is an effort to reduce the number of underage DWI’s, serious injury crashes and fatal crashes.
