Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: January 26, 2010 Hit and Run Fatality Crash Claims One Life in St. Bernard Parish Troop B – On Monday, January 25, 2010, at approximately 10:50PM, Troop B investigated a hit and run fatality crash on LA 46 west at Kingbird Street. Preliminary investigation indicates that a pedestrian identified as Heather Fike (W/F, age 37) of St. Bernard, LA, was struck by an unknown vehicle while Fike was walking in the road. The vehicle then fled the scene. Fike was lying in the road, due to the first impact, and was struck a second time by a 2005 Honda Pilot driven by Kristine Oltmann (W/F, age 19) of Chalmette, LA. Fike was pronounced dead on the scene. Troopers believe Fike was impaired at the time of the crash; autopsy and toxicology results are pending. Impairment is not suspected for Oltmann. Troop B is urging anyone in the community that has knowledge of the hit and run crash to call Troop B at 504.471.2775. Senior Trooper Volante is investigating the crash. This is the third hit and run fatality involving a pedestrian that Troop B is currently investigating since the beginning of the New Year.
