Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: April 17, 2010 Fatal Crash on I-10 Claims One Life Troop B – Louisiana State Police, Troop B is investigating a fatal crash in St. John the Baptist Parish that occurred on April 17, 2010 at approximately 2:30 AM on I-10 eastbound at mile post 200. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Toyota Camry was traveling on I-10 eastbound in the left lane at a high rate of speed. For unknown reasons, the Toyota crossed over the median and through the westbound lanes of travel. The vehicle then struck a tree and caught on fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The driver’s name is being withheld pending identification and notification to next of kin. There were no passengers in the Toyota at the time of the crash. Speed is suspected to be a factor of the crash. Toxicology results are pending the autopsy.
