| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP B- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: March 2, 2010 Fatal Crash in St. Charles Parish Claims One Life Troop B – Louisiana State Police, Troop B investigated a fatal crash today on US 90 west at South Kenner Road shortly after 8:40 AM. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Mack dump truck, driven by Euell Marceaux Jr. (W/M, age 39) of Kaplan, LA, was traveling west on US 90 near South Kenner Road with his left turn signal activated and slowed to a stop in the left lane. Due to traffic approaching on US 90 east, Marceaux was unable to immediately make a left turn. A 2010 BMW X5, driven by Vikram Khoshoo (O/M, age 54) of Midland, MI, was traveling on US 90 west in the left lane, approaching the stopped Mack dump truck. For unknown reasons, the BMW struck the rear of the Mack dump truck. Khoshoo was pronounced dead on the scene and Marceaux sustained minor injuries from the crash. The investigation is still on-going; however, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. Toxicology results are pending the autopsy. Troopers have seen an increase in distracted driving related crashes. Drivers must remain focused while driving by paying close attention to the road and other vehicles around them. Cellular phones, GPS devices, and other electronic devices can cause distractions and lead to crashes. It only takes a moment of inattentive driving to cause a crash leading to serious injuries or death.
