| TROOP A NEWS RELEASE August 3, 2016 Mandeville Man Dies after Rear-Ending 18-Wheeler on Interstate 10 in Iberville Parish Ramah, LA – Shortly before 10:00 pm on August 2, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatality crash on Interstate 10 westbound east of LA 975 (Whiskey Bay) in Iberville Parish. The crash took the life of 50 year old Marty Wyatt of Mandeville, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Wyatt was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 in a 2015 Toyota Tundra. At the same time, 33 year old Alahundro Buckley of Picayune, MS was also traveling westbound on Interstate 10 in a 1995 Peterbuilt 18-wheeler. Wyatt was in the right lane behind Buckley and for unknown reasons, Wyatt rear-ended Buckley’s vehicle. Wyatt was unrestrained and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Buckley was properly restrained and was not injured. It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash but toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for analysis. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that all occupants of a motor vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
