Two New Orleans Men Arrested in Stolen Vehicle

New Orleans – Earlier today, Troopers with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations – New Orleans Field Office arrested two New Orleans men after they attempted to flee from Troopers in a stolen vehicle. 22-year-old Dorian Charles and 22-year-old Terrence Johnson were booked into Orleans Parish Criminal Justice Center on various charges.

The preliminary investigation by State Police revealed that shortly after 11:00 pm on May 21st, Troopers attempted to stop a stolen 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage on Canal St. near N. Peters St. The driver of the vehicle (later identified as Charles) fled from Troopers and began a brief pursuit. Charles crashed the Mirage on N. Claiborne Ave. north of Canal St., and he and his passenger (Johnson) exited the vehicle. Upon exiting the vehicle, Johnson was brandishing a firearm at which point a Trooper fired his duty weapon. No one was struck or injured as a result of the incident.

Troopers took Charles and Johnson into custody, and arrest warrants were obtained for both. Charles was charged with LRS 14:108 - Resisting an officer, LRS 14:108.1 – Aggravated flight from an officer, and LRS 14:69 - Illegal possession of stolen things. Johnson was charged with LRS 108.2 - Resisting a police officer with force or violence, LRS 14:37.2 - Aggravated assault upon a peace officer, and LRS 14:69 - Illegal possession of stolen things. Two firearms were recovered from Charles and Johnson during the incident. This incident remains under investigation, and there is no further information at this time.
