TROOP A NEWS RELEASE October 2, 2014 Troopers Searching for Farm Tractor Believed to have Caused East Feliciana Parish 18-Wheeler Crash Clinton – Shortly before 7:45 pm on October 1, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a hit and run crash that occurred on LA Hwy 67 north of LA Hwy 422 just south of the Mississippi state line in East Feliciana Parish. The crash injured a 40 year old Mississippi man, and caused an extensive road closure. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 33 year old Hardy Williams of Mt. Olive, MS was driving a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer northbound on LA Hwy 67. At the same time 40 year old Lacey David of Madison, MS was driving a 2005 International log-truck southbound on LA Hwy 67. Troopers believe that an unknown farm tractor was traveling northbound in the middle of LA Hwy 67 towards the state line. As Williams and David approached the unlit farm tractor, both took evasive action causing the tractor-trailers to strike each other. Both tractor-trailers were severely damaged as a result of the collision. Logs and diesel fuel were spilled on the roadway, causing a lengthy road closure in the area. Both Williams and David were properly restrained. Williams was uninjured; however, David was air-lifted to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge with moderate injuries. Troopers believe that the farm tractor was operating with no lights, and continued traveling northbound on LA Hwy 67 towards the Mississippi state line. This crash remains under investigation, and Troopers ask that anyone with any information regarding this crash please contact Louisiana State Police Troop A at 225-754-8500 or their local law enforcement agency.
