Teenage Passenger Killed in Jefferson Parish Crash

Marrero – Shortly after 5:00 pm on July 13, 2019, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on LA 45 near Dolores Dr. in Jefferson Parish. The crash claimed the life of 19-year-old Ryan Moliere Jr. of Pointe à la Hache.

The initial investigation revealed that 24-year-old Jarell Sino of Braithwaite was southbound on LA 45 in a 2010 Mercury Milan. At the same time, a 2016 GMC Sierra pickup truck was northbound on LA 45. For reasons still under investigation, Sino turned into the path of the Sierra resulting in the Mercury being struck by the pickup.

Moliere, passenger in the Mercury, was unrestrained and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Sino was unrestrained and suffered minor-moderate injuries. The driver of the pickup was unrestrained and suffered minor-moderate injuries. Although impairment is not suspected, toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis. This crash remains under investigation and charges are pending. There is no further information available at this time.

Troopers wish to remind motorists that all occupants in a vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices such as never driving while impaired, ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and obeying all traffic laws can often mean the difference between life and death.
