TROOP B NEWS RELEASE
The initial investigation by Troopers revealed that the crash occurred as Brown was driving a 2014 Nissan Altima eastbound on LA 636-3 in heavy rain. For reasons still under investigation, Brown’s Altima ran off the roadway to the right and struck an abandoned house. Brown was properly restrained at the time of the crash, but sustained serious injuries. He was transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans where he succumbed to his injuries. Impairment is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash, but standard toxicology results are pending. While not all crashes are survivable, Louisiana State Troopers would like to remind motorists that all occupants of a motor vehicle must be restrained. Statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles, such as never driving while impaired, avoiding all distractions, and obeying all traffic laws can often mean the difference between life and death.
