TROOP B NEWS RELEASE Pedestrian Killed in St. Charles Parish Crash St. Charles Parish – Last night, shortly before 10:00 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on US 90 near Ruth Street. The crash involved a pedestrian and claimed the life of 28-year-old Kelsi Montelle-Girlinghouse of Deville, LA. Preliminary investigation revealed that 59-year-old Diana Major of Raceland, LA was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox east on US 90 in the left lane. Girlinghouse was crossing US 90 and was struck by the Chevrolet. Girlinghouse was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Major was properly restrained and not injured. A voluntary blood sample was taken from Major and will be processed by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. A toxicology test will be performed on Girlinghouse following an autopsy and impairment is suspected. Pedestrians and motorists alike are urged to remain vigilant while on area roadways and pay close attention to their surroundings. Crashes involving pedestrians can often be avoided by following some basic safety guidelines. Pedestrians should wear light-colored or reflective clothing and should always avoid walking on the roadway in dark areas. Pedestrians must also assume that approaching motorists cannot see them, especially at night.
