Slidell Woman Killed in Plaquemines Parish Crash

Braithwaite – Shortly before 7:00 a.m. this morning, Troopers with Troop B began investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on LA 39 near Marc’s Lane. The crash took the life of 47-year-old Vondria Paloade.

The preliminary investigation revealed Paloade was traveling southbound on LA 39 in a 2006 Pontiac G6. For reasons still under investigation, Paloade ran off of the roadway to the right then swerved back to the left. She entered the northbound lane and struck a 2019 Jeep Cherokee that was being driven northbound on LA 39 by 46-year-old Cassandra Reddick of Braithwaite. Paloade was wearing her seat belt but suffered fatal injuries. Reddick was properly restrained and suffered minor injuries. She was transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans by Plaquemines Parish EMS. Impairment is not suspected and toxicology reports are pending for both drivers. This crash remains under investigation and there is no further information available at this time.

Louisiana State Troopers would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to always make good decisions while operating motor vehicles. Never drive while impaired, fatigued, or distracted. Always ensure every occupant is properly restrained, pay close attention to recent changes in child passenger seat laws, and follow all traffic laws. Taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
