Thibodaux Man Killed in Crash on LA 3127

St. Charles Parish – Last night at approximately 7:20 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop B was notified of a fatal crash on LA 3127 near LA 3141. The crash involved two vehicles and claimed the life of 33 year-old Todd Cashio of Thibodaux, LA.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Mack dump truck, driven by 47 year-old Sylvester Hubbard of New Orleans, LA, was disabled on LA 3127 partially blocking the left lane and median opening. A 2005 Nissan Altima, driven by Cashio, was traveling south on LA 3127 and impacted the right rear of the dump truck. The Nissan then traveled off the road into a ditch. Cashio was wearing a seat belt and pronounced dead on the scene. Impairment in unknown and toxicology tests are pending an autopsy. Hubbard was not injured and showed no signs of impairment; he voluntarily submitted to a blood test and those results will be determined by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The crash remains under investigation.

Preventable crashes continue to plague Louisiana roadways. Troopers implore motorists to make safe decisions behind the wheel. Please remind your loved ones of the importance of adherence to speed limits, wearing seatbelts, avoiding distractions, and never driving impaired. The conversation could be the difference in a serious crash.
