TROOP B NEWS RELEASE July 13, 2018 Motorcyclist Killed in Speed Related Crash Chalmette- On Thursday, July 12, 2018, at approximately 11:20 PM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a single vehicle fatal crash involving a motorcycle on LA 46 at Battlefield Drive in St. Bernard. The crash has claimed the life of 51-year-old Brian A. Dantoni of St. Bernard. The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Dantoni was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on LA 46 in the left lane at a high rate of speed. As the motorcycle approached a curve in the road, the rider lost control and traveled into the median, striking two trees. Despite wearing an approved DOT helmet, Dantoni sustained fatal injuries in the crash. He was pronounced deceased on scene by Dr. Poche of University Medical Center. As part of the on-going investigation, blood samples were collected and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
