TROOP B NEWS RELEASE May 10, 2018 Unidentified Pedestrian Killed in Crash on LA 46 St. Bernard Parish – Yesterday evening, shortly before 9:00 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash involving an unidentified pedestrian on LA 46 near West Fire Station Road. Troopers’ initial investigation indicated that a 2011 Ford F-150, driven by 39 year old James Dupeire of Kenner, LA, was traveling west on LA 46 in the left lane. The pedestrian was walking in the west bound travel lanes and walked into the path of the Ford. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene. Dupeire voluntarily submitted to a breath and blood test. No detectable alcohol was found and a toxicology test will be performed by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Dupeire was not injured in the crash. The crash remains under investigation. Pedestrians and motorists alike are urged to remain vigilant while on area roadways and pay close attention to their surroundings. Crashes involving pedestrians can often be avoided by following some basic safety guidelines. Pedestrians should wear light-colored or reflective clothing and should always avoid walking on the roadway in dark areas. Pedestrians must also assume that approaching motorists cannot see them, especially at night. Crossing roadways only in well-lit, designated areas and always walking facing traffic will enhance the safety for pedestrians. Contact Information: | |||
