TROOP B NEWS RELEASE Unrestrained LaPlace Man Killed in I-10 Crash Jefferson Parish – This morning, shortly before 3:00 am, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on I-10 west at Causeway Boulevard. The crash claimed the life of 37-year-old Noel Reese of LaPlace, LA. Preliminary investigation revealed that Reese was driving a 2014 Dodge Challenger west on I-10 and, for reasons under investigation, struck the left concrete barrier. Following the initial crash, the Dodge became disabled across the left and center lanes. A 2001 GMC Yukon, driven by 39-year-old Roland Parquette Jr. of Garyville, LA, was traveling in the center lane of I-10 west and struck the Dodge on its left side. Reese was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead on the scene. The passenger in the Dodge, 36-year-old Jacob Jones, and Parquette were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Impairment is unknown at this time and a toxicology test will be performed during the autopsy. The crash remains under investigation. The majority of motorists who die in crashes are not wearing a seat belt. Despite this fact, some people still choose not to take the 3 seconds needed to buckle a seat belt. Louisiana law requires motorists to wear a seat belt in every seating position, front seat and back seat, day and night. Wearing a seat belt is the single most effective thing vehicle occupants can do to minimize the risk of injury in the event of a crash. Motorists are encouraged to make the smart choice and to always Buckle Up! Contact Information: | |||
