TROOP B NEWS RELEASE Pedestrian Killed in Plaquemines Parish Crash Plaquemines Parish – Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash last night that occurred shortly before 9:00 pm. The crash occurred on LA 23 south near Boyd Lane in the Boothville/Venice area and involved a pedestrian. Lynn C. Landry (age 65) of Venice, LA was pronounced dead on the scene as a result of the crash. Preliminary investigation revealed that Landry was walking south in the left lane of LA 23 and was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling in the left lane. The Chevrolet was driven by Jared Farley (age 37) of Larose, LA. Farley was properly restrained and not injured. A voluntary blood sample was taken from Farley and will be processed by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab; impairment is not suspected. A toxicology test will be performed on Landry following an autopsy and impairment is suspected. Pedestrians and motorists alike are urged to remain vigilant while on area roadways and pay close attention to their surroundings. Crashes involving pedestrians can often be avoided by following some basic safety guidelines. Pedestrians should wear light-colored or reflective clothing and should always avoid walking on the roadway in dark areas. Pedestrians must also assume that approaching motorists cannot see them, especially at night.
