Deadly Weekend on Louisiana Roadways Continues into Monday with Two Early Morning Fatal Crashes

This weekend has been particularly tragic on Louisiana roadways and it continues into Monday morning with Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A investigating two more fatal crashes. These crashes occurred less than two hours apart and resulted in the death of two people.

Baton Rouge, LA – The first crash occurred at approximately 4:00 am on March 27, 2017 on Burbank Dr. west of Highland Rd. in East Baton Rouge Parish. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 20 year old Fred Richardson IV of Baton Rouge, LA was traveling eastbound on Burbank Dr. in a 2009 Mercedes C30. For unknown reasons, Richardson failed to negotiate a left hand curve. His vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and struck multiple trees.

Richardson was properly restrained but sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Impairment is unknown at this time, but a toxicology sample was taken from Richardson for analysis.

Plaquemine, LA – The second crash occurred shortly after 5:00 am on March 27, 2017 on LA 1 south of LA 75 in Iberville Parish. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 64 year old Linda Peterson of Plaquemine, LA was attempting to walk across LA 1. At the same time, 24 year old Dylan Hebert of Napoleonville, LA was traveling northbound on LA 1 in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. For reasons still under investigation, Peterson walked into the path of Hebert’s vehicle and was struck in the northbound lane of LA 1.

Peterson sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Iberville Parish Coroner’s Office. Hebert was properly restrained and was not injured in the crash. Impairment is not suspected but a toxicology sample will be taken from both Peterson and Hebert for analysis.
