TROOP A NEWS RELEASE April 7, 2017 Unrestrained Jackson Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash in East Feliciana Parish Jackson – Shortly after 8:30 am on April 7, 2017, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle crash on LA 952 north of LA 10 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash took the life of 49 year old Timothy Hollins of Jackson, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Hollins was traveling southbound on LA 952 in a 2003 Chevrolet pickup. For reasons still under investigation, Hollins ran off the left side of the roadway and struck multiple trees. Hollins’ vehicle continued off the roadway and came to a stop after striking a parked vehicle. Hollins was not restrained at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the East Feliciana Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash but a toxicology sample will be taken from Hollins for analysis. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that while not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
