Troopers Seek Hit and Run Vehicle That Left Motorcyclist Seriously Injured Jefferson – Shortly after 5:00 pm on April 6, 2020, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a hit and run crash that occurred on LA 45 southbound near the intersection of Bastian Drive in Jefferson Parish. The crash resulted a motorcyclist being seriously injured. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as a black SUV, possibly a GMC, was crossing LA 45 on Bastian Drive. At the same time, a motorcyclist riding a 2005 Honda Reflex motorcycle was traveling southbound on LA 45 in the left lane of travel. For reasons still under investigation, the front of the black SUV struck the motorcyclist causing the rider to be ejected. Despite wearing a DOT approved helmet, the rider suffered serious injuries. After striking the motorcyclist, the unknown vehicle continued northbound on LA 45. Based off of witness statements, Troopers believe that the unknown vehicle may be a black GMC or Chevrolet SUV. The driver’s side rear window may also have a black garbage bag covering pre-existing damage. This crash remains under investigation, and Troopers ask that anyone with any information regarding this crash please contact Louisiana State Police Troop B at 504-471-2775.
