TROOP A NEWS RELEASE April 10, 2017 Speed Suspected to be a Factor in Crash that Killed an Unrestrained Napoleonville Man in Livingston Parish Holden– Shortly after 8:00 pm on April 9, 2017, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash on Interstate 12 westbound at LA 441 in Livingston Parish. The crash took the life of 34 year old Christopher Lasseigne of Napoleonville, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Lasseigne was traveling westbound on Interstate 12 in a 2006 Nissan Titan. Lasseigne was traveling at a high rate of speed when he attempted to exit onto LA 441 and lost control of his vehicle. Lasseigne’s vehicle began to overturn and he was ejected from the pickup. Lasseigne was unrestrained at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries. Lasseigne was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office. It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash. A toxicology sample will be taken from Lasseigne and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that all occupants of a motor vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
