| TROOP B NEWS RELEASE Jefferson Parish - Shortly after 10:00 a.m. this morning, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on LA 3139 (Earhart Expressway) southbound at LA 3152 (Clearview Parkway) in Jefferson Parish. The crash involved a motorcycle and claimed the life of 52-year-old Kent Shropshire of River Ridge. Trooper’s initial investigation revealed that Shropshire was operating a 2020 Ducati motorcycle at a high rate of speed on LA 3139 southbound near LA 3152. For reasons still under investigation, Shropshire lost control of the motorcycle, ran off the road to the right and crashed into a metal light pole. He was ejected from the Ducati and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Although speed is a suspected factor in the crash, toxicology test will be performed following an autopsy. Shropshire was wearing an approved DOT helmet at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation and there is no further information available at this time. Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur. Anyone interested in attending motorcycle safety courses can go to http://lsp.org/motorcycle.html for more information. Making good choices while riding a motorcycle, such as never driving while impaired and obeying all traffic laws, can often mean the difference between life and death. Contact Information: | |||
