TROOP B - NEWS RELEASE February 14, 2015 Pedestrian Killed in Crash in St. John the Baptist Parish St. John the Baptist Parish – Last night, shortly before 11:00 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on LA 44 near LA 3179 that involved a pedestrian. The pedestrian was identified as Clinton Perrilloux (age 33) of Reserve, LA. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Chase Fergerson (age 29), was traveling west on LA 44, just west of the intersections with LA 3179. Perrilloux was attempting to cross the travel lanes of LA 44 and was struck by the Impala. Perrilloux was transported to Ochsner River Parishes Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Speed and impairment are not suspected however, Fergerson submitted to a breath test and no detectable alcohol was found in his system. Toxicology tests for Perrilloux are pending an autopsy. Troopers urge both motorists and pedestrians to remain vigilant while on area roadways and pay close attention to their surroundings. Louisiana State Law requires pedestrians to utilize sidewalks where accessible or walk along the left shoulder as far away from the roadway as possible. Pedestrians should walk against the flow of traffic, wear light colored clothing, and stay out of travel lanes at all times.
