Motorcyclist Dies on LA 3127 in St. Charles Parish

Hahnville, LA- Shortly before 11:30 am this morning, a 30 year old motorcyclist was killed on LA 3127 after he struck another vehicle and was ejected from his motorcycle in St. Charles Parish.

The investigation revealed that two 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycles were traveling north on LA 3127, just north of the St. Charles Parish Jail, in Hahnville, LA. The motorcycles were being driven by Jonathan Dascher, (W/M age 30) of Lacombe, LA, and William Harrison, (W/M age 29) of Mt. Dora, FL. The motorcycle being driven by Dascher, for unknown reasons, crossed the center line of LA 3127 and entered the southbound lane. At the same time, a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling south on LA 3127 approaching the motorcycles. The Colorado was being driven by Norman Samuel, (B/M age 84) of Edgard, LA. Samuel attempted to steer his vehicle to the right in order to avoid the motorcycle, but was unable to avoid the crash. The motorcycle struck the front left fender of the Colorado, causing Dascher to be ejected from his motorcycle. After the impact, the Colorado continued off the right side of LA 3127 Southbound were the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll over. In an attempt to avoid the crash, Harrison laid his motorcycle down and slid off the right side of LA 3127 Northbound. Dascher, who was wearing a US D.O.T. helmet, was transported to St. Charles Hospital where he later died from his injuries sustained in the crash. Samuel, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to St. Charles Hospital with minor injuries. Harrison, who was wearing a US D.O.T. helmet, was transported to St. Charles Hospital with minor injuries.

Alcohol use is unknown at this time and routine toxicology tests are pending for Dascher. Blood was taken from Samuel and Harrison, and the test results will be pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers remind motorists that driving at high speeds is dangerous, and often leads to serious injuries or death in motor vehicle crashes. Motorcyclists must wear a proper US D.O.T. helmet when operating their motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not all crashes are survivable, properly utilizing safety equipment like approved motorcycle helmets and seatbelts decrease your risk of serious injury or death.

Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
