TROOP B - NEWS RELEASE April 1, 2015 French Quarter Troopers Arrest Attempted Murder and Armed Robbery Suspect Orleans Parish – Yesterday evening, Troopers assigned to the New Orleans Criminal Enforcement Detail successfully located and apprehended an armed robbery and attempted murder suspect within minutes of the crimes. The quick response and actions of the Troopers resulted in the arrest of 18 year old Troy Lee Jr. of New Orleans, LA on charges of Armed Robbery (3 counts), Attempted Murder, Resisting an Officer, and Illegal Possession of a Firearm. The arrest followed the immediate response of Troopers to the area of St. Phillip Street near North Robertson Street following sounds of gunfire in the neighborhood. Troopers began to patrol the area and saw a suspect who matched the description given near the intersection of St. Ann and N. Robertson Street. After Troopers identified themselves, the suspect began to flee through the neighborhood. While pursuing, Troopers witnessed the suspect throw a pistol over the fence of a private residence. The suspect, later identified as Troy Lee Jr., was soon after taken into custody and booked into the Orleans Central Lock-up on the above charges. Through further investigation, Troopers learned that Lee had robbed three victims and attempted to murder a fourth victim. Lee was positively identified by the victims and the NOPD Crime Scene Unit recovered the weapon and processed the scene for additional evidence. “From the beginning of our deployment throughout the City of New Orleans, I promised that our Troopers would be proactive and quickly bring to justice those individuals choosing to endanger the safety of this community,” said Colonel Mike Edmonson, Louisiana State Police Superintendent. “Troopers will continue to deter crime in the French Quarter and surrounding areas as we work hand in hand with our law enforcement partners and the public to solve and prevent crime.”
