TROOP B - NEWS RELEASE December 23, 2015 Avondale Man Killed in Overnight Crash on US 90 Jefferson Parish – Yesterday evening, at approximately 11:20 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a fatal crash on US 90 near the intersection of Old Man River Road in Marrero. The crash claimed the life of 20 year-old Ngoc T. Dinh of Avondale, LA. Preliminary investigation revealed that Dinh was driving a 1999 Nissan Maxima west on US 90. Dinh lost control of the vehicle and crossed over the raised median and entered the eastbound lanes of US 90. The vehicle then traveled into the grassy area past the shoulder of the road and struck an unoccupied tractor/trailer that was parked beyond the right shoulder of US 90 east. Dinh was pronounced dead on the scene. Troopers have determined that the Nissan had two bald tires in the rear and the roadway was wet due to continuous rain at the time of the crash. Dinh was wearing a seat belt and impairment is unknown at this time. Toxicology results are pending an autopsy. For those who plan to travel this weekend, make sure your vehicle is current on routine maintenance and tires have adequate tread depth and are properly inflated according to vehicle manufacturer’s instructions. It is also prudent to be well-rested and have alternate routes planned in advance in case of unexpected road closures. If you are in need of assistance or witness hazardous road conditions, possibly impaired drivers, or aggressive driving, you are encouraged to report it by dialing *LSP (577) from your mobile phone. This is a community effort, and we need your help in keeping the roadways safe!
