TROOP B - NEWS RELEASE April 14, 2015 St. Bernard Parish Man Dies in Motor Vehicle Crash St. Bernard Parish – This morning, shortly before 7:00 am, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on LA 46 west near Pelitere Drive. The single vehicle crash claimed the life of 53 year-old Kerry G. Lemoine of Chalmette, LA. Preliminary investigation revealed that Lemoine was driving a 1997 Ford Truck west on LA 46 and, for reasons under investigation, veered off the road and struck a utility pole. Lemoine was transported to St. Bernard Parish Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Speed, weather and impairment are not considered factors however, toxicology results are pending an autopsy. Lemoine was not restrained at the time of the crash. Troopers would like to remind motorists that proper seat belt usage is required by Louisiana law for all occupants of a vehicle. The primary purpose of a seat belt is to keep the occupant in the seating position, preventing ejection. A seat belt also protects the internal organs, brain and spinal cord by spreading the crash forces across the strongest bones in the body and allowing the body to decelerate at a slower rate. Please ensure that all occupants are properly buckled, this will limit injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash. Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police. | |||
