TROOP B - NEWS RELEASE January 14, 2016 Unidentified Pedestrian Killed in Crash in St. Charles Parish St. Charles Parish – Last night, at approximately 10:30 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on US 90 west near Tiger Drive. The pedestrian has not yet been identified. Preliminary investigation revealed that 19 year-old Chelsey Guidroz of Houma, LA was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pick-up truck west on US 90 in the right lane approaching Tiger Drive. The unidentified pedestrian, wearing dark clothing, was walking west in the right lane of US 90. Guidroz observed the pedestrian and attempted to take evasive action, however the Chevrolet struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian died on the scene. Speed and impairment are not considered factors of the crash and Guidroz voluntarily submitted to a breath test and no detectable alcohol was found. An autopsy and toxicology will be performed on the pedestrian and identification is pending the autopsy. Walking upon the travel lanes of a highway, especially at night is dangerous and should be avoided. A majority of pedestrian fatalities, nearly 70 percent, occur at night. Pedestrians are encouraged to wear light colored clothing, reflective materials, and to carry a flashlight at night.
