**Update** - Troopers located the vehicle involved in the hit and run fatality. The driver, Harold Barrett (W/M, age 70) of Chalmette, LA, was driving a white 2002 Dodge pick-up on the night of the crash. The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab positively identified this vehicle as the vehicle that hit and killed Donna Landry by matching evidence collected on the scene to the damage on the pick-up. An arrest warrant was issued for Barrett and this morning Barrett turned himself in to troopers at the St. Bernard Parish lock-up. Barrett was arrested and booked for Negligent Homicide, Felony Hit and Run and Reckless Operation. The investigation is on-going at this time.

December 29, 2013 - UPDATE: The pedestrian was identified as Donna Landry (W/F, 54 yrs) of Chalmette, LA.

December 29, 2013 - This morning, at approximately 6:00 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a hit and run fatality crash on LA 46 at Madison Street in St. Bernard Parish.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a late model Dodge pick-up, possibly white in color, was traveling south on LA 46 and for unknown reasons traveled onto the shoulder of the road and struck a pedestrian that was walking on the southbound shoulder. The vehicle then fled the scene and the pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene. The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld at this time, pending notification to the family.

Troopers were able to gather evidence from the vehicle on the scene and are currently searching for the Dodge pick-up. Anyone with information regarding this crash is urged to contact Louisiana State Police Troop B at (504) 471-2775.
