TROOP B - NEWS RELEASE November 30, 2013 Motorcycle Operator Killed in Crash in Jefferson Parish On Tuesday, November 26, 2013, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a serious injury crash involving a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle on LA 3152 (Clearview Parkway) in Jefferson Parish. Preliminary investigation revealed that Renee Folse (W/F, age 44) of Westwego, LA, was traveling north on LA 3152, and for unknown reasons struck the raised cement divider that separates the left lane from the left turn lane at E. Corporate Drive. Folse was ejected from motorcycle and transported to the Interim LSU Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center with critical injuries. On Wednesday, November 27, 2013, Troop B was notified that Folse died due to injuries she sustained in the crash. Folse was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and driver impairment is unknown at this time. A blood sample was taken and turned into the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for toxicology analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troopers want to remind all drivers to pay attention to the road while operating a motor vehicle. Studies show that 37% of driver attention can be taken away from the road when focused on a device or passenger. Also, texting while driving is illegal in Louisiana. No driver is allowed to read, write or send a text or email on a telecommunication device. It is also illegal to update or send information to a social media site. If anyone observes a hazardous situation or possible impaired driver, please call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the nearest troop.
