Pedestrian Killed in Crash in St. Charles Parish

This morning, at approximately 2:20 AM, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash in St. Charles Parish involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred on US 90 east at Pier 90 and Wadie Ray Willis (W/M, age 46) of Bakersville, North Carolina was pronounced dead on the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Tramaine Leday (B/M, age 32) of Lafayette, LA was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 east on US 90 in the right lane. Willis was in the right lane of travel and was struck by the Ford F-150. Speed and impairment are not considered factors of the crash, however Leday submitted to a chemical test and toxicology tests will be performed by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Toxicology results for Willis are pending an autopsy. The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers urge both motorists and pedestrians to remain vigilant while on area roadways and pay close attention to their surroundings. Louisiana State Law requires pedestrians to utilize sidewalks where accessible or walk along the left shoulder as far away from the roadway as possible. Pedestrians should walk against the flow of traffic, wear light colored clothing, and stay out of travel lanes at all times.
