TROOP B NEWS RELEASE August 18, 2017 Two New Orleans Men Arrested on Auto Theft Ring Suspicion NEW ORLEANS – Yesterday, Louisiana State Police Detectives assigned to the Bureau of Investigations Auto Theft and Insurance Fraud Unit arrested two New Orleans men for numerous criminal charges in relation to an auto theft ring. The investigation began in June 2017 after Detectives received information about an active auto theft ring operating in the New Orleans area. Yesterday, a search warrant was conducted at 7226 Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans. Detectives located seven stolen motorcycle engines, one stolen Yamaha motorcycle and a stolen motorcycle frame. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are forthcoming. Two individuals were arrested at the search warrant location and booked into the Orleans Justice Center. Joseph Hardee, age 47 of New Orleans was charged with eight counts of Possession of Stolen Property and Alteration of Identifying Numbers. Carlance Grant, age 33 of New Orleans was charged with one count of Possession of Stolen Property and Alteration of Identifying Numbers.
