TROOP N NEWS RELEASE August 27, 2017 Three Fully Loaded Weapons Found in Vehicle after Suspects Fled from Troopers NEW ORLEANS – Three New Orleans men were arrested after a pursuit with Louisiana State Police Troopers on August 26, 2017, shortly before midnight. Following the arrests, Troopers located three fully loaded weapons, a Glock 9mm with an extended magazine, a .40 caliber Springfield Armory and a pistol gripped rifle. All three weapons were found inside a Hyundai Elantra, along with 2.74 grams of heroin and 82.38 grams of marijuana. Troopers were on proactive patrol on N. Claiborne Ave. at Kelerec St. when they observed illegal tint on the Hyundai. They attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled down Kelerec St. and onto the interstate. The Hyundai exited on N. Claiborne Ave. and as the vehicle was traveling down the off-ramp, five suspects fled the vehicle on foot. Denzel Milton (age 26) was the driver and surrendered to Troopers. Two other suspects were caught, Anthony Oats (age 22) and Samuel Morton (age 19). The other two suspects escaped. There were no reported injuries. Denzel Milton was arrested and charged with Resisting Arrest by Flight, Resisting an Officer, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule 1 Narcotic (Heroin) and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule 1 Narcotic (Marijuana). Anthony Oats was arrested and charged with Resisting an Officer, Possession of a Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule 1 Narcotic (Marijuana). Samuel Morton was arrested and charged with Resisting an Officer, Possession of a Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule 1 Narcotic (Marijuana) and Possession of a Schedule 1 Narcotic (Marijuana).
