TROOP B NEWS RELEASE April 13, 2017 Fiery Crash on I-310 Claims the Life of LaPlace Woman St. Charles Parish – This morning, shortly after 8:00 am, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on I-310 south between LA 18 and LA 3127. The crash claimed the life of 44 year old Chalanta Brown of LaPlace, LA. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Sterling dump truck, driven by Brown, was traveling in the right lane of I-310 south at a very slow rate of speed for unknown reasons. A 2013 Kenworth 18 wheeler, driven by 31 year old Glen Robichaux Jr. of Gheens, LA, was traveling in the right lane of I-310 and impacted the rear of the dump truck. The Kenworth was transporting approximately 8,000 gallons of gasoline and following the impact, it became fully engulfed in fire. The dump truck overturned on its passenger side. Robichaux was able to escape from the cab of the tractor and was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Brown died on the scene. Impairment is not suspected and the crash remains under investigation. I-310 south remains closed due to necessary road repairs.
