State Police Locates Hit and Run Vehicle and Driver

Update: This morning, Troop B was contacted by Kiedra Banks (age 26) of Kenner, LA, who advised that her vehicle may have been involved in the hit and run fatality. Through further investigation, Troopers learned that Banks is the owner of a black 2007 Nissan Altima with a LA temporary tag. Louisiana State Police Crime Lab processed the vehicle for evidence. Through further statements and evidence, State Police Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Banks, who was placed under arrest for Hit and Run Driving involving a Fatality and No Drivers License. She was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. The investigation is on-going.

April 1, 2018, Jefferson Parish – This evening, at approximately 8:25 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop B was notified of a fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian on US 61 south at North Elm Street. The pedestrian was identified as 59 year old Nathaniel Bailey of Metairie, LA.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Bailey was walking south on US 61 near the fog line and was struck by a dark colored Nissan Maxima that displayed a LA temporary tag. The Nissan fled the scene on the Earhart Expressway into Orleans Parish. Bailey was pronounced dead on the scene. The investigation is on-going.

The Nissan Maxima will be missing the passenger side view mirror, damage to the passenger side and possible damage to the front right bumper. Louisiana State Police is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of the vehicle or driver to contact Troop B at 504.471.2775.
