Two Fatal Crashes Investigated in Jefferson Parish in Less than Six Hours

Update: The pedestrian was identified as 58 year old Maria Adams of Jefferson, LA.

Jefferson Parish Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated two separate fatal crashes in less than six hours. The first crash involved a motorcycle and the second involved a pedestrian.

Shortly after 1:00 am, Troopers investigated the first crash on I-10 east at Causeway Blvd. The initial investigation indicated that 23 year old Jennifer Holpp of Metairie, LA, was driving a 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle over the posted speed limit. The crash occurred as Holpp entered a left curve on the elevated Causeway Blvd. south on-ramp to I-10 east. The motorcycle struck the concrete barrier wall and Holpp was ejected over the wall onto Causeway Blvd. Holpp was pronounced dead on the scene. She was wearing a DOT approved helmet. Impairment is unknown and a toxicology test will be performed during an autopsy.

The second fatal crash investigated occurred shortly before 6:00 am on US 90 east at Boyce Street. The initial investigation revealed that an elderly, unidentified female was walking a leashed dog south on the train tracks, crossing US 90. As she was crossing the center lane of US 90, both the female and the dog were struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 55 year old Bryan Kovesdi of Metairie, LA. The female was pronounced dead on the scene. The dog was also killed in the crash. Kovesdi provided a breath sample and no detectable alcohol was found in his system.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
