TROOP B - NEWS RELEASE June 1, 2016 Louisiana State Police Seeks Public’s Assistance in Hit and Run Fatality Jefferson Parish – Early this morning, shortly before 2:00 am, Louisiana State Police was notified of a body in the roadway on LA 3139 south (Earhart Expressway), near the Orleans Parish line. Preliminary investigation revealed that an unidentified male subject was riding a bicycle south on LA 3139 near the shoulder of the road and was struck from the rear by an unidentified vehicle. Troopers believe that the subject was struck a second time by another unidentified vehicle. Evidence collected from the scene indicated that one of the suspect vehicles is a Toyota. The suspect vehicles possibly have front end damage. An autopsy will be conducted in order to identify the male subject. The investigation is on-going. State Police is asking anyone with information related to either vehicle to please come forward. You can call Louisiana State Police at (504) 471-2775.
