TROOP B - NEWS RELEASE April 1, 2016 Harahan Man Killed on Airline Highway Jefferson Parish – Last night, shortly after 9:00 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on US 61 south at Labarre Road. The crash claimed the life of 28 year old Andres Edwuardo Semeraro of Harahan, LA. The Troopers’ initial investigation revealed that Semeraro was driving a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle south on US 61 at a high rate of speed. The road was wet at the time of the crash and Semeraro lost control of the motorcycle and struck a roadway sign. He was ejected from the Kawasaki and transported to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Semeraro was wearing a DOT approved helmet but, the helmet was not properly fastened and it separated from his head during the crash. The crash remains under investigation. Troopers remind motorists to always be aware of your surroundings and weather conditions when traveling on the road. Motorcyclists must properly wear a US D.O.T. helmet when operating their motorcycle on Louisiana roadways. Although not all crashes are survivable, properly utilizing safety equipment like approved motorcycle helmets and seatbelts decrease your risk of serious injury or death. If you witness a hazardous situation or possible impaired driver, please dial *LSP (*577) and you will be directed to the nearest Troop to report that activity.
