TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE December 17, 2011 Troopers Investigating Hit and Run Crash, Unrestrained Driver Killed West Baton Rouge – Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a hit and run fatal crash last night on Interstate 10 in West Baton Rouge. The crash occurred on I-10 eastbound, west of LA 415 near milepost 147 shortly before 8:00 pm. Troopers’ preliminary investigation revealed that Donny Tullier (W/M, age 58) of Rosedale was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer east on I-10 at milepost 147 in the right lane when an unknown vehicle cut in front of him. Tullier swerved to avoid the unknown vehicle, lost control of the Trailblazer, and ran off the road to the left. The Trailblazer struck several trees before coming to rest facing south near the tree line. Tullier was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was thrown into the rear cargo area of the vehicle. He was transported to the Baton Rouge General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The vehicle that cut into Tullier’s path did not stop and continued traveling east on Interstate 10. Troopers have very little information regarding this vehicle and are encouraging anyone with information to call Troop A at (225) 754-8500. Any piece of information, no matter how small, may help Troopers with this investigation. This was the third fatal crash in less than one week that Troopers have investigated in the Troop A area involving an unrestrained driver who has been killed. Troopers would like to strongly urge everyone to wear a seat belt at ALL times and in EVERY seating position in the vehicle. Chances of survival during a car crash increase tremendously when everyone involved is properly buckled up. Contact Information: TFC Russell G. Graham II | |||
