Lottie Man Dies in Two Vehicle Crash on US 190 in Pointe Coupee Parish

Lottie Shortly before 11:00 am on February 22, 2017, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatality crash on US 190 east of LA 81 in Pointe Coupee Parish. The crash took the life of 64 year old Henry Baise of Lottie, LA.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as a Trooper was traveling eastbound on US 190 in a fully marked Louisiana State Police Chevrolet Tahoe. At the same time, Baise was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado on a private drive on the south side of US 190. Baise pulled his Silverado from the private drive onto US 190 into the path of the Troopers vehicle. The vehicles collided in the eastbound lanes of US 190 and came to rest in the ditch on the westbound side of the roadway.

Despite the fact that he was properly restrained, Baise sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported to Pointe Coupee General Hospital in New Roads where he was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel. The Trooper was also properly restrained, and sustained moderate injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported from the scene to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Routine toxicology samples will be taken from both drivers for analysis. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and will be conducted by supervisors and certified accident reconstructionists from Troop A.
