TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE February 6, 2012 Troopers Looking for Answers in Fatal Crash Investigation Walker – Louisiana State Police Troop A is currently investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on LA 447 near LA 1024 today shortly after 2:00 p.m. Troopers are looking for a white Ford Expedition with rear-end damage and a broken right tail-light assembly that is suspected to have been involved in the crash. Troopers’ preliminary investigation revealed that a 2002 Ford pickup was traveling south on LA 447, north of LA 1024, when it struck the rear of a white Ford Expedition that was stopped facing south in the southbound lane of LA 447. Ronald Farris (W/M, age 55) of Walker was standing next to the passenger side of the Expedition when it was struck by the pickup. The pickup then veered to the right and struck Farris as it ran off the road to the right. The pickup continued through a ditch and struck a residence. The driver of the pickup, Joshua Benoit (W/M, age 25) of Elizabeth, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Farris was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s office. The Expedition continued south on LA 447 after the crash occurred. Troopers suspect the Expedition to have sustained damage to the rear bumper and right rear tail-light assembly.
