Troop A - NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Sunday Mid-Day Crash Claims One Life Livingston Parish- Earlier today, Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a two vehicle fatal crash on US 190 at LA 1026 (Juban Road). The crash claimed the life of a young Walker man. According to the investigating Troopers, on October 02, 2011, just before noon today, 20-year-old Jade Severio of Walker, LA, was a rear passenger in a 2009 Hyundai Accent that was traveling eastbound on US 190 near the intersection of LA 1026. Initial information indicates that a second vehicle, 2009 Chevrolet Pick-up Truck, was stopped on US 190 westbound, and attempted to turn left onto LA 1026 as the Hyundai Accent approached. The two vehicles struck each other almost head on. The Chevrolet truck was being driven by James Johnson and the Hyndai Accent was being driven by Garth Kitzmiller. Jade Severio was later pronounced dead at a local area hospital. Investigating Troopers report that seatbelts were worn and that alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time. Routine toxicology samples were obtained, and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Troopers would like to remind all motorists that Louisiana State Law requires all occupants of motor vehicles to wear their seatbelt. While wearing a seatbelt will not save you in every crash it will greatly reduce your risk of injury in most crashes. For More Information Contact: | |||
