TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE April 1, 2012 Greenwell Springs Man Dies In LA 37 Crash Shortly before 11 PM yesterday, Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a fatality crash on LA 37 where a truck flipped and killed the driver. The investigation revealed that a 2012 Ford pickup was traveling south on LA 37 just south of Alphonse Road. For unknown reasons, the truck traveled off the road to the right in a left curve. As the truck left the road it struck a culvert causing the truck to flip and land on its passenger side. The truck continued to travel on its side, striking a second culvert and two trees. The pickup was being driven by Daniel Couvillion (White/Male, D.O.B. 03/05/86) of Greenwell Springs, LA. Couvillion, who was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead on scene by the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office. Alcohol use is unknown at this time and routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation. OR Tpr.
