TROOP A - NEWS RELEASE April 25, 2012 Motorcycle Operator Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Crash Baton Rouge – Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a crash involving a motorcycle on Friday, April 21, 2012 that left a Las Vegas man seriously injured. Troopers learned today that Harley Made (W/M, age 57) of Las Vegas succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash. Made was driving a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on the entrance ramp to Interstate 10 westbound from Bluebonnet Boulevard Friday night at approximately 7:30 pm when the crash occurred. Troopers’ investigation revealed that Made attempted to pass a stopped 1995 Honda Civic on the left in the entrance ramp. The Honda, being driven by Russell Diggs Jr. (B/M, age 22) of Baton Rouge, was stopped due to traffic congestion. Made struck the left rear of the Honda, fell off the motorcycle into the inside travel lane, and was struck by a 2003 Toyota Tundra, being driven Roger Dornier (W/M, age 70) of Baton Rouge. Made sustained critical injuries in the crash and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital for treatment. Hospital staff notified Troop A today that Made succumbed to his injuries earlier this morning. Troopers do not suspect alcohol to have been a factor in this crash; however, they have submitted a sample of Made’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. The investigation will be brought to conclusion when the toxicology results are returned. Troopers remind motorists to always be aware of their surroundings and to be prepared to react in an instant at all times. Motorcycle riders should always exercise caution while driving, especially in heavy traffic. They should also take extra steps to ensure that they will be seen by motorists. Light-colored or reflective clothing is recommended any time motorcyclists are on the road. Contact Information: TFC Russell G. Graham II | |||
